My Process

From Your Idea to the Finished Piece

Custom woodworking does not need to be confusing. I keep the process clear, communicate along the way, and make sure the important decisions are handled before the build begins.

  1. Tell me about Your Project - Send a description, approximate dimensions, photos of the space, and any inspiration images that you have. If you are not sure about every detail yet, that is okay.

  2. Consultation & Ideas - I will talk through how the piece will be used, the look you want, your budget, and any practical requirements. I may suggest adjustments to improve strength, function, appearance, or cost.

  3. Design, Materials & Quote - Once the scope is clear, you will receive a written project description and price. Depending on the project, this may include measurements, a sketch, material choices, finish selections, and delivery details.

  4. Approval & Deposit - Your place in the build schedule is reserved after you approve the project details and pay the required deposit. Material purchases and construction begin after that point.

  5. The Build - Your project is measured, cut, assembled, sanded, and finished with attention to the details agreed upon. I will communicate if an unexpected issue or choice comes up.

  6. Final Payment & Delivery - The remaining balance is due before or at delivery, pickup or installation as stated in your quote. I will coordinate the final handoff and provide care information when appropriate.

Payment Structure

For most custom projects, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required before the process begins. This deposit reserves your place in my build schedule and allows me to purchase the necessary materials. The remaining 50% is due before or at delivery or pickup.

Changes After Approval

Changes are easiest and least expensive before materials are purchased or construction begins. Requested changes after approval may affet the price and completion date. I will explain any change before moving forward.
